EMPOWERING WOMEN THROUGH THE BOREHOLE SPACE

We are a village hub that uses the water value chain to empower women to access safe drinking water, produce food and build income in dry-land communities in Malawi.

OUR APPROACH

To have successful outcomes requires different approaches to things. This is how we do it.

Safe drinking water for community health

We continue to provide clean and safe drinking water per village using affordable water drilling technologies.  To date, our project has drilled 18 boreholes, and these are providing safe water for drinking, personal hygiene, and sanitation to 13,000 rural poor households across Malawi.

Home Gardens for Food and Income for Women

Our Gardens for Food and Women Income around the borehole space has established 5 women’s borehole gardens directly benefiting 56 women and their families with increased access to nutritious food and income.

Access to Savings and credit for rural unbanked women

Only 34% of rural population in Malawi have access to savings facilities. Without safe space to save and borrow, rural women and men suffers from high financial illiteracy that heavily contribute to their income poverty.
